On Wednesday the DMC Latam 2013 chapter Brazil took place in Braston Hotel. The hotel is located on Augusta Street, in downtown. Augusta used to be a bohemian area, but it is near Roosevelt Square, Consolacao Church and other touristic points now.

Being a programmer, after I arrived at DMC Latam, I was astonished by the number of people wearing suits - and I wearing an ol’ T-shirt. Many participants were foreigners, but there were also many Brazilian executive, managers and a few programmers.

Last weekend we attended Mozilla Tech Day at BandTec Faculty. BandTec is the technology faculty of BandTec college. It is located near Paraiso metro station, what is very convenient in Sao Paulo city.

Arriving at BandTec was easy, and there were many families going to the college, for weekend activities with their kids. After the entrance stairs there was a reception desk with BandTec students. They were distributing tags with the room number and talk title. You had to choose one talk for the whole day. You could change that, but you would have to go downstairs :-(

SPIN-SP - 63a reunião

Foi a minha primeira visita a uma reunião da SPIN-SP. A SPIN é um movimento criado na década de 80 que visa a melhoria contínua do processo de desenvolvimento de software através da divulgação de experiências, melhores práticas e melhoria de qualidade. Fiquei surpreso ao ver que seria em um auditório muito bem estruturado na Universidade São Judas Tadeu, com três projetores em diferentes locais da sala, sistema de som e um coffee break. Pelo que vi o grupo é formado apenas por voluntários.

Tive a chance de conversar com pessoal da Universidade e do SPIN, além dos palestrantes também. O clima era ótimo, e todos eram abertos a ideias e com ótimos comentários. A seguir um breve relato do que aconteceu por lá, para você que não pôde ir mas gostou da ideia :-)

Vem aí um dos melhores eventos de TI do Brasil! Com diversas trilhas, sempre muito networking bom e palestras de diferentes tópicos e com palestrantes sempre muito bons. O TDC (The Developers Conference) acontece três vezes ao ano, uma em Florianópolis, uma em Goiânia e uma em São Paulo.

A próxima edição acontece nos dias 24 a 26 de Maio, em Florianópolis. E este ano será no Oceania Convention Center, um centro de convenções na Praia dos Ingleses. Então além de aprender tecnologias novas, aprofundar as que já conhece, além de conhecer muita gente bacana, você ainda pode aproveitar e conhecer a cidade dos nossos Manezinhos :-)

Jenkins logo without the red-ish background

We used Inkscape to remove the red-ish background of Jenkins logo (we needed that way to create the T-Shirts). Below you can find both the final result and a video with the process for removing that background.
